Outdoor Warning System (OWS)

Outdoor Warning System Activation

The City of Tuttle operates a system of 14 sirens citywide.  The Tuttle Outdoor Warning System is activated as directed by the Emergency Manager, City Manager, Police Chief or Fire Chief.  The following are the general guidelines that initiate an activation:
  • A tornado warning  polygon touches or incorporates a 5-mile buffer that has been established by the city.
  • A severe thunderstorm warning polygon with a "tornado possible" tag touches or is incorporated within the 5-mile buffer AND the storm is moving towards the city limits.
  • A reliable report of a wall or funnel cloud, or tornado threatening the City is received from a trained City-affiliated storm spotter
